Volunteers will join the Anacostia Watershed Society (AWS) for a Weed Wrangle Habitat Restoration Workday! During this workday volunteers will help AWS with their invasive plant control and revegetation efforts along the riverside area of Kingman Island at Langston Golf Course. By participating in this project you will not only have the opportunity to learn about invasive plants and the ecology of the Anacostia River, you will help to improve the habitat for wildlife and the water quality of the Anacostia River.

Physical Level of Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult

This event will likely involve lifting, bending and walking. If you think any of the physical requirements will be problematic, please let us know.

What to Wear/Bring:

Gloves (we will also have gloves available for volunteers to use on site)

Clothing: All participants should dress appropriately for the weather on the day of the event. We recommend wearing long pants and socks. Please wear clothes you are comfortable getting muddy in.

Shoes: Closed-toed shoes are required for this project. We recommend wearing hiking boots, rubber boots, or any closed-toed shoe that you're comfortable getting dirty/muddy. If you own a pair of waders, you're welcome to bring them with you! We'll have some extra boots and waders available on site.
