The Cocoa Hike

Join us for a guided hike in Rock Creek Park, followed by hot cocoa and games in the park! Two college ambassadors will meet at Howard to guide the group to Rock Creek.
Schedule:
Please try to arrive early!
2:00 Meet at Howard to take public transit together
3:00 Meet at Rock Creek Park, Picnic Area 7
3:10 Opening Soul Trak Circle, divide into hike groups
3:30 Hike groups begin hike
4:30 Return to Picnic Area 7 for Hot Cocoa, mingling, and games!
5:00 We will conclude the program with a Soul Trak Circle, but feel free to stick around after until 6p.
What to wear and bring:
- Comfortable hiking shoes or running shoes
- Warm layers for after the hike (you may get warm during the hike, but after you'll want a warm jacket to put on)
- A reusable mug!

Parking is available at Picnic Area 7.
Rock Creek Park is accessible by bus: S9, S2, 70, 79
Our primary goal for this initiative is to acquaint Howard students and others with the possibilities of local outdoor sanctuaries through Rock Creek Park. We aim to bring together the BIPOC community for a day of empowerment, connection, and a sense of relaxation before the final stretch of demanding coursework. We hope to provide activities, resources related to outdoor engagement, wellness, and community support. Furthermore, highlighting the range of outdoor activities be it cycling, hiking, or simply relishing the outdoors while lounging on a picnic blanket.
