Meeting Place: Seneca Creek State Park (Parking lot near the park office), Gaithersburg, MD 20878
First parking lot to the right off Seneca Creek Road
Participants will be hiking the Great Seneca Trail, Seneca Creek Greenway Trail, and the Lakeshore Trail around Clopper Lake. The loop is a pleasant 6 mile loop with beautiful scenery around Clopper Lake.
Participants are advised to bring snacks and water along for the trip. It is important to have enough fuel for the day, we will stop for a break midway through hike. Please wear close toed shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Note that all hiking tours are weather dependent and will proceed in light rain but may need to cancel if there is heavy rain, lightning, or strong wind in the forecast. The program will provide participants with a unique opportunity to explore the fall colors and changing leaves around Seneca Creek State Park. Participants will be accompanied by experienced hikers who will provide instruction and ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience in the park.
We will gather at the parking lot for brief intros at 9:00 am before starting the hike at 9:15. The Parking lot may become full, in which case there are other parking lots in the park that you will have to walk from. Make sure to arrive early in case you have trouble finding parking, and then have to walk back to the group.
