Environmental Leadership Cohort: Seed to Soul Initiative

Join Soul Trak and the 2023 Environmental Leadership Cohort as they present their community initiative: Seed To Soul. This initiative aims to reconnect families to nature, and to strengthen relationships to nature through the exploration of our food environment via accessible gardening education and discussion on how to take care of our environment.
This event is open to all ages, families encouraged!
Explore the garden in a scavenger hunt, learn about what grows well during different seasons, cook using ingredients grown at the farm, and learn about composting and food waste. The program will take place on May 13, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm located at Temperance Alley Urban Garden, 1909 13th St. NW, Washington DC 20009. The program will provide participants with a unique opportunity to explore urban gardening and connect to nature through our connection with food.
Schedule:
3:00pm - Welcome and mingle with participants and event leads.
3:15pm - Soul Trak and the Environment Leadership Cohort introductions 3:30pm - Introduction and tour of Temperance Alley Garden by the Temperance Alley Team. 4:00 -5:30pm- Participants visit the different gardening demo stations.
Seed planting station: Take home your own seedling! Composting: learn about how food waste and scraps can be used to make rich soil! Taste of the garden: learn to make a recipe using common foods that you can grow! Meditate in the peaceful setting of the garden Explore the garden through a scavenger hunt
