Soul Trak Summer Service Day with Dreaming Out Loud

The Farm at Kelly Miller
301 49th St. NE

Washington, DC 20019

Join Soul Trak as we participate in our Summer Service Day in collaboration with Dreaming Out Loud (DOL). This initiative aims to reconnect communities to nature, and to continue to build a diverse stewardship of our outdoor green space in DC  through the support of local urban gardens, farms and parks.

Dreaming Out Loud is a DC based non profit that aims "to create economic opportunities for the DC metro region’s marginalized communities through building a healthy, equitable food system."

"DOL is rebuilding urban, community-based food systems through cooperative social enterprise: increasing access to healthy food, improving community health, supporting entrepreneurs and cooperatives from low-income communities; and creating opportunities for at-risk residents to earn sustainable, family-supporting wages and build wealth. We believe that all communities deserve equal access to fresh, healthy food choices, but that achieving this requires moving beyond the “access” paradigm to a focus on community self-determination and food sovereignty. We are working to create an integrated pipeline to jobs, economic opportunity, and community wealth-building for our most marginalized communities, utilizing the food system as the catalyst."

Learn about the urban farming environment in DC with Dreaming Out Loud.  We will be helping the farm team prepare the farm for the fall season, so be prepared to get your hands in the dirt!

The program will take place on June 24, 2023, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm located at the Farm at Kelly Miller, 301 49th St. NE, Washington DC 20019.

This event is open to all ages, families encouraged!

We will have service supplies but if volunteers have additional gloves, water and any personal supplies that would be fantastic.  We strongly recommend wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather and for a few hours outdoors, pants, and closed-toed shoes or boots.  No sandals or flip-flops.  We may work with sharp tools and don't want anyone get injured.

See you all at the farm!
